There are so many bodybuilding myths doing the rounds, it's difficult to separate fact from fiction! Here are some myths you need to watch out for. Not only are they harmful, they're also misleading enough to get in the way of fitness. So, be aware and careful.
Workout like a bodybuilder: This message would've probably reached you through bodybuilding magazines. This couldn't be further from the truth though! You're not going to gain from training like a bodybuilder or by following his training to a tee. Your body is different and has to be trained differently.
Put your muscles through a long period of constant tension to get a pump: In reality, this will neither help you gain muscle nor weight! When you lift heavy weights and you get this pump, it's just an indication that you're working your muscle fibers properly and have hit the right target. It's not a yardstick of success by any means.
Train until you can't lift another weight: You'll be told this is the best way to gain muscle continuously. But working out until you get to the point when you can't do another repetition in a set is not the way out. Sure, your body will adapt to intense weight lifting and it will heal damaged muscle tissue, but you don't have to go for overkill!
Shock your muscles into stimulation: This myth has no logic to it whatsoever. Your muscles operate on scientific principles, not bogus theories! The only thing they know is movement, which doesn't include changing your routine to shock them into growing more muscle!
Organize your workout for each day: This routine focuses on different body parts for different days. But working out your back on Monday and your chest on Wednesday can make you strain yourself, leading to a quick burn out. It'll tax your immune system and central nervous system. It's always better to train muscle groups frequently through the week rather than in one shot on one day!
As you can see, there are so many misleading myths doing the rounds. To steer clear of them and move in the right direction get into the right program that debunks these myths, not espouses them!
